Hackference is a conference and a hackathon thrown into one. It’s organised by Mike Elsmore out of no other intention than to see people who love hacking come together and have a great time. This year Simon Tabor, Ben White and I headed up for yet another great year.
The conference is held on the first day, with the hackathon taking place over the next two days. The conference acts as a great way to introduce you to new technologies and ideas. With so much enthusiasm in the room discussing new ideas, inspiration for the hack projects the next day just naturally start to fire off.
Our very own Simon Tabor gave a talk on scaling Redis.
Personally, it’s my favourite hackathon. There are no crazy cash prizes with teams frantically competing to win. Instead it’s filled with one of the friendliest atmospheres and people simply hacking for the sake of hacking.
